Potential BTO at Kallang Basin Swimming Complex, St Wilfred Sport Centre sites likely to be Plus flats: ERA Singapore
The Kallang Basin ActiveSG Swimming Facility and the St Wilfred ActiveSG Sports Centre will stop operations permanently in the second half of 2025. On June 13, URA, HDB and Sport Singapore jointly announced the closure of the facilities upon their contract expiries. The Kallang Basin complex, established on Geylang Bahru Lane, is going to shut on Sept 1, and the St Wilfred centre on St Wilfred Road is going to shut on Oct 1.
He anticipates the future BTO job at the site might feature a mix of two- to four-room flats. “The nearby sites have a plot proportion of 2.8, and assuming a similar plot ratio, we might see some high-rise BTO flats, possibly as much as 36 storeys,” he includes.

Lim thinks that near future Build-to-Order (BTO) plans at the site could be assigned as Plus flats due to their distance to town and amenities. Plus flats have tighter resale constraints compared to Standard type condos, including a longer minimal occupation duration of ten years and restrictions on renting the flat.
Residents will definitely have connection to a new Sport-in-Precinct center in neighboring Kolam Ayer, that is set to open at the end of the year. On the other hand, plans to introduce public housing at the two sites are currently being researched, according to the companies.
The Kallang Basin Swimming Complex spot is throughout walking range of Geylang Bahru MRT Station and the Geylang Bahru Market and Food Center. Lim marks that most of the public property blocks in the Geylang Bahru area were established in the 1970s, showing a need for brand-new advancements that will certainly revitalize the area.
